Nutrition is a process by which the body breaks down and utilises food as proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and other enzyme factors, to provide energy for cellular maintenance and growth. These vital processes rely largely on a healthy digestive system and normal intestinal activity.
Healthy intestines are inhabited by a complex ecosystem of living organisms, which normally exist in a balanced relationship to support digestion and maintain the integrity of the mucous lining in the gut. These friendly microorganisms reduce waste in the intestinal tract to form natural antibiotic substances that support the immune system and prevent the spread of harmful bacteria. This delicate internal environment is largely preserved by colonies of lactobacillus acidophilus, an important strain of intestinal flora.
A healthy intestinal environment is easily disrupted by stress, overseas travel, poor dietary and lifestyle choices, and by the use of medications such as antibiotics, oral contraceptives and steroids.
Gastro-intestinal symptoms such as bloating, flatulence, fullness after meals, diarrhoea and/or constipation indicate the likelihood of a disturbed intestinal environment, which allows pathogenic bacteria to take hold. Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus and E-coli are opportunistic organisms that can overgrow and cause chronic gut infections, leaving the body weakened and susceptible to further infection.

Thompson’s Acidophilus Plus provides a safe and effective means of restoring and maintaining a healthy balance of intestinal flora. It is a milk-free formulation of not less than 500 million live organisms of Lactobacillus Acidophilus per capsule in a hypoallergenic base. As yeast infections can be exacerbated by some commonly used tabletting aids, Acidophilus Plus uses psyllium dietary fibre as a base and contains no dairy products.

Formulation

Lactobacillus Acidophilus 550mg

(each capsule contains not less than 500 million Lactobacillus Acidophilus at time of encapsulation).

Direction for use
Adults - 1-3 capsules a day, (with food) or as professionally prescribed.

Indications for Use
Thompson’s Acidophilus Plus works to recolonise the bowel with healthy intestinal flora, help to restore balance and relieve a wide range of gastro-intestinal symptoms such as bloating, flatulence, fullness after eating, diarrhoea and /or constipation.
Acidophilus Plus can be used in acute and chronic candidiasis or yeast overgrowth and gastro-intestinal infections such as giardiasis, campylobacter and salmonella poisoning.

Acidophilus Plus is ideal for use in children and teenagers, with an easy opening capsule that allows the contents to be added to food and drink.

This product is safe for use in pregnancy.
