Item Description

Most of the body’s Calcium is stored in bones. Bones are living, changing tissue. The hard outer layer, which is the main reservoir of the body’s Calcium and other minerals, is constantly changing.

Even though bones stop lengthening at around the age of 18, they accumulate Calcium and continue to increase in density until the late 20’s or early 30’s. After this, the process begins to reverse. The body becomes less able to take in Calcium, and the mineral is leached from the bones to supply other organs that need it, leaving the bones weaker and less dense. Bone mass generally begins to decline at 35 years of age.

Osteoporosis can occur when this natural process is accelerated and an excessive amount of bone loss occurs leaving them more brittle than normal. Because oestrogen has a protective effect on bones, this occurs most frequently in post-menopausal women with a family history of osteoporosis.

Both Calcium and Magnesium are vital for strong, healthy bone formation. Working together, Calcium supplies the important structural components while Magnesium is vital to the absorption and correct placement of Calcium in the bones themselves.

In Dolomite, nature has provided an excellent source of both Calcium and Magnesium in the ratio required by the body. The body requires twice the amount of Calcium as Magnesium for normal function. Nutrition surveys show that many New Zealanders, particularly women, fall short of achieving the current recommended intakes for these nutrients and may need to supplement their diet.

Direction for use
Adults - One or two tablets, three times a day (with food), or as professionally
prescribed.

Indications for Use
Most women with a family history of Osteoporosis will benefit from taking a Calcium and Magnesium supplement, to help maintain adequate bone mass. This does not exempt males from falling prey to deficiency. Any nervousness, muscle spasms and sleeplessness may benefit from supplementing with Dolomite.

For those who do not regularly consume three to four portions of dairy products, daily Dolomite provides an economical source of Calcium and Magnesium, and ensures an adequate intake of these essential minerals. Dolomite is suitable for vegetarians and may be specifically beneficial for strict vegans.
