The liver is the cleanser and filter of the blood stream and is of vital importance. The liver must try to cope with the thousands of toxic chemicals in our environment. If the detoxification pathways become overloaded, there will be a build up of toxins in the body. Many of these toxins are fat-soluble and incorporate themselves into fatty parts of the body where they may stay for years. Furthermore, most of our cholesterol is produced by the liver. So even if you do not consume much cholesterol, your liver will manufacture all the cholesterol you need. If you have a healthy liver, the balance of the good cholesterol (HDL) and the bad cholesterol (LDL) and the triglycerides will be more likely to be favourable.

Milk Thistle is an antioxidant herb with remarkable hepatoprotective ability. It has been used as a supportive treatment in chronic inflammatory liver disease. Thompson’s Liver Complex contains 7,000 mg of this powerful herb. Schisandra has been used in China for progressive liver degeneration due to chemical challenge. Globe Artichoke is one of the world’s oldest medicinal plants, used by the ancient Greeks and Romans as a digestive aid. Dandelion root has been used for hundreds of years to treat liver and gallbladder problems. Taurine is a detoxifying amino acid that is essential for healthy liver function. It is an essential component of cell membranes and provides antioxidant protection.

The bitter herbs in a liquid liver tonic stimulate digestive juices, thereby improving digestive function and enhancing absorption of the product itself. Furthermore, dosage is more easily adjusted to avoid detoxification symptoms which can often make people feel worse before they feel better.

Direction for use
The adult dosage on the label is 5ml two to three times a day. This dosage should be increased gradually to reduce the likelihood of side effects. Start with just 1ml once a day and build up slowly. If detoxification symptoms such as headaches or malaise occur, stop taking and resume at the lower dose once symptoms have subsided.
