Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that protects other antioxidants such as vitamin E, which frequently incur damage by oxidization. Humans are unable to store vitamin C; it is a water-soluble vitamin with an active life of only 3 – 4 hours once ingested.

Increased need of vitamin C occurs after stress, illness, smoking, prolonged sickness, medications, exposure to pollution, allergies, healing wounds, burns and after severe bruising.
